Workshop: From Attraction to Retention
- Buildning Employer-ability

Sandra Slotte & Megan Reif
In this highly interactive 90-minute workshop, Sandra Slotte connects Talent Intelligence with what ultimately determines retention:
Employer-ability.

Employer-ability is the readiness and willingness of employers to hire, onboard and retain international talent — and to actively contribute to a welcoming ecosystem. Research and exit insights show that talent rarely leaves because of the job itself. They leave due to integration gaps, lack of cooperation, spouse employment challenges, weak onboarding structures, or unwelcoming local systems.
Data shows opportunity.
Cooperation creates retention.
Ta
Together with Megan Reif, who brings intensive knowledge in talent attraction and competitiveness as well as the Talent Intelligence Management perspective, this workshop bridges analysis and action.
Participants will work hands-on with their own ecosystem challenges and:
-
Identify real retention barriers
-
Understand why employers often hesitate to engage
-
Shift perspective into the employer’s reality
-
Design concrete collaboration pilots
-
Leave with one actionable step to initiate within three months

This a working session where participants will leave with a practical framework to move from Talent Intelligence → Employer Collaboration → Retention, and a clearer understanding that talent chooses ecosystems — not just jobs.
More about Sandra Slotte
Sandra Slotte is a Senior Consultant, trainer and public speaker specialising in international talent attraction and retention.
Her core expertise lies in Employer-ability — the willingness and ability of employers to hire, onboard and retain international talent — and in understanding how local actors, policies and societal attitudes shape that landscape.
Sandra works with governments, municipalities, regions, public sector organisations, higher education institutions and employers to strengthen their capacity to attract and keep global talent. Her work spans strategy development, capability building, ecosystem orchestration and hands-on support for organisations navigating demographic change, skills shortages and internationalisation.
With a long career in the internationalisation of higher education, she brings deep insight into global mobility, international student attraction and the transition from education to employment. This gives her a practical understanding of how talent moves, what motivates it, and what systems must be in place for it to thrive.
Alongside her consultancy work, Sandra is a Doctoral Candidate researching the employer-ability of micro and small enterprises and how local ecosystems influence it — a topic of particular relevance for Nordic and Northern European regions where international talent attraction and retention is a strategic priority.
